About
A small Australian label making a short range of things for dogs and cats, in materials that were chosen for how they age rather than how they photograph.
What we make
The range covers four things: what the animal wears, what it sleeps on, what it eats from, and what keeps it clean. That is the whole catalogue and we would rather it stayed that way.
Everything is made in runs of a few hundred at most. The leather work is cut and stitched in Bendigo. The stoneware is thrown in the Adelaide Hills. The wool is Australian, spun and woven in Geelong. The felted pieces are made by a fair trade cooperative in Kathmandu from Australian fleece.
How we choose materials
Bridle leather instead of split or bonded leather, because bridle is tanned for harness work and takes a patina instead of cracking.
Solid brass instead of plated steel, because plating wears through at the buckle in about a season and then rusts.
Wool instead of polyester fill, because wool moves moisture away from the surface and does not hold odour, and because a synthetic bed that goes flat is a synthetic bed in landfill.
Stoneware instead of plastic, because plastic scratches, holds bacteria in the scratches and is a known trigger for feline chin acne.
Repairs
Anything we made can come back. Re-stitching, a new buckle, a replacement bed insert, a fresh sisal column on a scratching post. You pay postage one way and we cover the work for the first five years.
This is not generosity. It is the only honest way to sell something at these prices.
Where we are
The studio is in Collingwood, Melbourne. There is no shopfront. If you are local and want to see the leather in person before you buy, email us and we will sort something out.
