The name
A wolf that was never a wolf
In 1772 a painting was hung in London of an animal nobody there had seen. It was catalogued as a large dog. It was a dingo, brought back as a skin on the Endeavour, and it was the first Australian dog anyone in Europe had laid eyes on.
The painting is where the name comes from. Every animal in the house is a small distance from something wilder, and we think the objects they live with should respect that rather than decorate it away.
So the range is short. Leather that gets better, wool that does not smell, stoneware heavy enough to stay where it is put, brass that goes dark in the hand. Nothing that is going to be in landfill in two years.
