Care and repairs

Four materials, four routines. None of them takes longer than five minutes and all of them are the difference between something that lasts two years and something that lasts ten.

Bridle leather

Wipe with a damp cloth when it is dirty. Feed with a neutral leather balm twice a year, worked in with a finger and left overnight. If it gets soaked, dry it slowly and away from direct heat. Heat is what cracks leather, not water.

Waxed cotton

Brush off dried mud, never machine wash. Re-proof once a year with a cotton wax bar and a hairdryer on low. The wax dulls with use and comes straight back.

Wool

Cold gentle wash with a wool detergent, dry flat, never in a dryer. Air felted pieces in the sun rather than washing them. Wool is self cleaning to a degree that surprises people.

Stoneware

Dishwasher safe, not microwave safe. Do not put a cold bowl into a hot oven or the other way around. A chipped rim means retirement, because a chip in glaze holds bacteria.

Five years from purchase, on anything we made. Email repairs@whiskersandwolf.com.au with a photo and the order number and we will send an address. You pay postage one way.
